Optimization transdermal patch of polymer combination of chitosan and HPMC-loaded ibuprofen using factorial designs

Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that has disadvantage in its oral use, such as gastrointestinal disorders, nausea, vomiting and gastric ulcers. Transdermal patch dosage forms are an alternative overcoming this weakness. The transdermal formulated using special membrane can control release matrix system. Therefore, study optimizes chitosan HPMC polymers factorial design approach. parameters tested included weight uniformity, thickness, swelling index, vitro rate, folding resistance, ibuprofen surface pH, moisture content. interactions between the components were evaluated Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry-attenuated total reflectance (FTIR-ATR). optimum concentration of was 0.5% 6% with CV values for uniformity 0.003 ± 1.202%; humidity 0.543 5.595%; index 4.611 23,657%; thickness 0.052 2.428%; pH 5; durability less than 300 times levels 1.52 2.99%. approach FFD2 2 obtained effective efficient mathematical-statistical model to determine optimal polymer combination formula.
